It didn’t take too long to run into a pokemon. As soon as the pair got far enough away from the starting gates and moved towards the first patch of tall grass, a roll came rolling out. The feline hissed, scaring Maverick half to death. Crimson orbs flickered to the source, spotting the odd looking voltorb that was native from his home. A brow rose, watching cautiously as it wiggle back and forth.[break][break]

Normally, this things are super aggressive. As soon as it was within range, it would self destruct on you. This one however, seemed to not mind them. “Hmmmm…” the man hummed, reaching into his pocket to pull out a sphere, “I think this is the hisuian form.” With the flick of the wrist, the ball was launched into the air and at the wooden ball. The balls collided, the smaller one drawling the bigger one in place before falling to the ground with a soft thud. Maverick was curious about this one.

This was much better than the last time the ex guy leader was int he safari zone. For one, it wasn’t super early in the morning. Although the man wasn’t getting any younger, Maverick didn’t feel like he was that old either. Yet each time he attempted this in the morning, it was getting harder and harder to do. And second, there was no rushing involved. Sense most of the shiny pokemon get plucked by the morning ticket holders, there was no reason to rush it.[break][break]

Warm crimson colored orbs shifted over the vast wild lands of the safari zone, enjoying the peaceful moment. With his most recent capture in his pockets, he ushered for them to keep looking. After all, they didn’t have all day. Most trainer would use this time to bond and talk to her pokemon. Maverick wasn’t a talker, even to his own pokemon. Instead, the grass feline and the man strolled through the place silently. Both keeping their eyes sharp, Mav more chill than the grass starter.[break][break]

In the distance, it was Maverick who spotted the familiar figure of the little ground type moving about hear a small pound. Although those were good sturdy pokemon, it wasn’t what he was looking for. Instead, the man pushed forward. He only really wanted one pokemon here and that, wasn’t it. It wasn’t even worth using a pokeball that he really didn’t need. The pair kept moving.

Taking a break by the waters edge, the brunt scarred men let his gaze sweep over the landscape in search for the real prize. It felt like they have been here for hours on end, yet its probably only be one. A heavy sigh escaped him, crimson colored orbs returning to the feline. The feline knelt down at the waters edge, face first to lick the water.[break][break]

Suddenly, something surface before her. She hissed loudly, startling Maverick half to death as the feline stumble back a few paces. The wild tirtouga watched them from the water. It took a moment to gather himself, but swiftly plucked a ball from his pocket and tossed it at the ancient turtle. His aim was true, hitting the pokemon square on the head and sucking it in. It wiggled in the water.[break][break]

“You scared me,” he snarled at the feline, moving to pluck the ball from the rippling water, “Chill out.” The dark and grass type cat hissed at him. Maverick rolled his eyes, shoving the ball in his pocket. His heart still raced.

It took some time for the burnt scarred male to recover from the events prior. His newly caught feline really scared the crap out of him. Luckily though, catching it seemed to have calmed the grass and dark type down. And although he really didn’t want the ancient turtle, it’s not like he wasted a ball on it. After all, the man was really only here for one thing. That fire type.[break][break]

The pair kept moving through the safari zone, clouds have began to block the ones sunny day. A cool breeze rushed through the land, sending a chill down Maverick’s spine. And as the breeze rushed through, something fell from the tree close to him and hit the ground with a soft thud. It wiggled against the ground, drawling the man’s attention. He motioned with nod for his feline to follow, approaching he wiggling apple cautiously.[break][break]

Upon being discovered, the wild applin screeched to high heavens. It scared the feline, hissing dramatically back at it. Maverick sighed and rolled his eyes, plucking yet another ball from his last few and tossing it at the weird dragon grass type. Again, not one of his favorites but it will do. The ball hit the apple, sucking it in and locking it in place. The sphere wiggled on the ground, the wild pokemon trying to fight for freedom. Maverick grunted, casting the feline a look.

Several more hours passed sense their last encounter, moving through the safari zone at a faster pace now. I was getting much later than the man wanted, spending almost the whole day here was not what he had in mind. In the distance, Maverick saw the silhouette of the galarian ponyta grazing on some grass. It was what the place advertised being temporarily place in here. Unfortunately, he only had one ball left and he was saving it for a special someone.

It was getting late. Real late. Later than the burnt scared man was expecting to be in the safari zone. The sun was inching closer and closer to the horizon, the very tip of the large circular sun barely touched the earths round shape. Soon, darkness will fall upon the region. A heavy sigh escaped Maverick, taking this into consideration as the pair ventured through the safari zone. And with nightfall coming quick, the ex gym leader had to make the call and head back home.[break][break]

A frown formed on his lips, seeing the exit of the safer zone not too far off in the distance. It seemed that his prize was avoiding him, refusing to give him a break. Warm gaze shifted over the land, hoping desperately that the little fire croc would make an appearance. But with each passing step, it seemed that his bad luck continued. That was, until a loud hiss rang in his ear.[break][break]

Turning on a dime, Maverick was about to give this feline a thing or two. Her constant hissing at every little damn thing driving him up the wall today. But as he turned and mouth opened to snarl at the pokemon, orbs fell upon the little fire croc that stood at the felines feet. Its mouth opened wide, yawning tiredly at the cat. Suddenly, the dark and grass type felt drowsy. She stumbled on her feet, fighting to stay awake but failing. Maverick huffed, pulling out her ball to recall her while tossing his last sphere at the fire croc. Relief washed over him. This. This is what he was looking for. A new fire type to add to his flames.
